The Experience

A small but very committed group of volunteers assembled on Saturday, September 1, at the Texas Republican Party Straw Poll in Fort Worth for the purpose of conducting a vote verification exit poll. The group succeeded in garnering a 23.8% participation rate, or 308 exit poll participants, among the 1300 official Republican delegates who voted in the official Straw Poll.

Our ontest was instrumental in exerting the pressure to pass a paper ballots law in Florida which at least gives us something to count if someone can find an attorney who will file a lawsuit or a contest. However, these contests weredismissed WITHOUT any review of the evidence and contrary to the law as well as the rights of the candidates and voters to have the votes counted.

Debra Bowden, California Secretary of StateSAN BERNARDINO - After last week's decertification of the touch-screen voting system used by San Bernardino County, California's Secretary of State Debra Bowen said she is willing to recertify the machines if more security safeguards are put in place.

But with the 2008 primary elections just a few months away, county elections officials are scrambling to find solutions.

County Registrar of Voters Kari Verjil attended certification hearings in Sacramento and took the position that the county's Sequoia voting system is safe and secure as it is.
