[VoteRescue] Reserve SUNDAY, 7 - 9 pm, for VoteRescue Volunteer Debrief

Hi you wonderful VoteRescuers!

I know this is short notice, but this Sunday between 7 and 9pm we will meet
to discuss our Election Day action - to hear your stories, tell you what we
learned, and hear your suggestions for improvements or other actions we
might take going forward.

We apologize that for many of you Election Day volunteering was uneventful;
for some, even boring.  We have learned where we could've made it more
interesting for you by listening to what some of you figured out on your
own:  To initiate contact with the voters to invite them to sign the
Petition.  Katie Brewer gets the prize with 19 pages of signatures on the
Petition to the County Commissioners!  Way to go, Katie!

Kudos to Sue Ann Campbell, Janet Jones, and Erica Grignon who all worked the
"late shift" and got the videotape of the precinct results at the
substations - WAY TO GO!

We discovered at LEAST three types of problems going on during the day - I'm
still going through your forms:

1.  Some voters who cast a "write-in" vote for President lost their vote; no
vote was recorded for their candidate in their precinct!  This is a REALLY
BIG DEAL and we will talk about it in generic terms, as the voters will be
"laying low" until the County switches their posted election results from
"unofficial" to "official".
2.  Machine breakdowns occurred in several precincts; County
"troubleshooters" came and "fixed" the machines, and put them back in
service; or in some cases, took machines out of service.  Sounds like
routine repairs?  How do we know what these people did to the machines?
3. Potentially BIG problem with the Propositions for people voting straight
party.  There are verified reports that some voters missed voting on the
propositions altogether because of the way the machine is programmed.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMm......

We'll talk about all of these and YOUR personal experiences Sunday nite!
