/Vickie and I want to let everyone know *there will be NO VoteRescue
meeting tonight, Tuesday, November 18,* because we are still in
"wrap-up" mode after the election and are primarily focused on gathering
as many voting trouble reports as possible. In lieu of a meeting, we are
hoping you will take a few minutes and send the following message to all
your friends and contacts here in Texas asking them if they had //_any_
problem whatsoever when they went to vote in the November election. The
information regarding how to send us the trouble reports is contained in
the message. ~Karen and Vickie

/Dear Texas Voter,

Did you personally experience or witness any type of problem when you
went to vote or worked as a poll worker in this last election?

If so, VoteRescue* would like to know. We are compiling a report of all
the difficulties voters faced when exercising their right to vote in
Texas during both Early voting and on Election day. Our goal is to
present a more accurate picture of what happened when voters went to the
polls this year. We find that election officials have a common tendency
to minimize and gloss over the "glitches" and to "blame the voter" if
there are any problems. Problems could include: a malfunction or
breakdown of the voting machine or confusion with its use; not being
found on the voter registration list at the poll and having to vote on a
provisional ballot; long lines; not enough machines; poor behavior by
the poll workers, or simply having no confidence with the accuracy of
the results.

To send us your story, please go to our website at _www.voterescue.org_
and click on the "Contact Us" button. A short form will appear for you
to use. Remember, there is no problem too small or insignificant.
*Please describe in detail what happened and be sure to include your
name, address and the best way to contact you. If you know your precinct
number, please include it, too.*

We would greatly appreciate it if you would now send this message on to
all /your/ friends and contacts so that /an even greater/ number of
Texas Voters will be reached.

Thank you!

Vickie Karp, PR Director

/*VoteRescue is a non-partisan organization of concerned Texas voters
who do not want their vote counted in secret by _any_ voting machine -
whether a screen-type or a scanning-type. Instead, VoteRescue strongly
advocates for the use of hand-counted paper ballots with enhanced
security measures and the posting of all results at the polling place
immediately after the counting is completed on Election Night. Our
motto: "Get it Right on Election Night!"
