Dear VoteRescuers, and all voting residents of Travis County, NEW
VERSION: We are trying to get a realistic idea, in a very short period of
time, as to how many Travis County voters could volunteer to be a poll
worker on Election Day, November 4th, if it meant that you would get to
hand-count paper ballots? NEW: Many of you have been kind enough to
respond to our request that would involve working all day at the polls.
IF we could get the County to agree to allow "fresh poll workers" to come
in say, at 6:30 and count until done, how many more of you could do
THAT? As many of you know, (and many of you have helped us,) for years
we have approached officials at the County, State, and Federal
level about eliminating electronic voting systems because of the abundant
evidence of how easy it is to tamper with election results by hacking
into their secret software. Yet we're constantly told there could "never
be enough volunteers to hand-count a paper ballot election", which, of
course, is our solution to hacked e-voting machines. Let's just see about
that! This is all just hypothetical for now, but here is the question: If
you knew that you could hand-count paper ballots on Election Day, would
you, - and COULD you - volunteer to be a poll worker? (This scenario
would be for Travis County voters only; a full day commitment to work
would be from about 6am until possibly 10 or 11 pm.; the partial day
would be from about 6:30 to 11pm, if permitted.) DURING THE NEXT THREE
DAYS, we are trying to get a head-count of potential volunteers who, if
called upon, could and would meet that commitment. The response to this
appeal could help might determine if we actually get to count (some)
paper ballots in Travis County on November 4th IF SO, please reply to
ME, with your full name, Travis County address, and phone number - PLEASE
ADD WHETHER YOU COULD WORK THE FULL DAY, OR THE PARTIAL DAY. (If you
have already responded there is no need to respond again, we have your
information.) THEN, forward this e-mail to every other Travis County
voter you know who might be willing to help out, IF NEEDED. THANK YOU!
Let's pull some wonderful volunteer numbers together, and prove that
Travis County voters are willing to show up to do the work on Election
Day, if it means hand-counting our paper ballots! THANK YOU, and don't
forget: LET'S MAKE THIS E-MAIL GO VIRAL!!! Vickie (and Karen) karp at mail.com
