*Hi VoteRescuers!  Meeting Notice, and Volunteer Opportunity:
*
Happy New Year!  We had our first meeting of the year in January with low
attendance, probably due to a problem with our e-mail account, so we are
sending future messages out a different way until we resolve that problem!

*Our next meeting* will be at Brave New Books on Tuesday, February 17th,
from 6:30 til 8:30 pm.  We'll be going over our plans for 2009, which
include lobbying at the Capital for passage of the "Texas Hand-Counted Paper
Ballot Bill of 2009"!  Our Coalition is growing by leaps and bounds, and our
work at the County level has taken on even greater meaning this year.
Please come to the meeting to get updated and hear how you can help us move
closer to our goal of fair elections with hand-counted paper ballots!

*VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY*:  IN THE MEANTIME, our wonderful friend Sue Ann
Campbell has asked us to monitor the Producers' Council election at the
Public Access Cable TV (PACT) network on February 27th (new date!)  This
will be our 3rd year to help with this event, and gives us  real "hands-on"
experience with helping people conduct a high-integrity, totally transparent
election with hand-counted paper ballots!  WE NEED YOUR HELP, though!

We will need people for three different shifts:  11:30 am to 2:30 pm;  2:30
pm to 5:30 pm; and 5:30 pm to 8 pm (these folks can help and/or observe the
count!)

PACT is located at 1143 Northwestern Avenue, Austin, TX  78702; a map and
directions can be found on their website, www.channelaustin.org .

Please e-mail me if you can volunteer, and please include the shift that you
can work.  We hope to hear from you!  AND to see you at our next VoteRescue
meeting!
